Fw: It’s going to be public

This is a follow-up regarding the South Carolina State Ethics Committee's attempt to hold Rep. Bill Chumley on trial for ethics violations because he opposed Obamacare.  The hearing is now going to be public, and streamed live over the internet.  Keep up the good work!

Dear Marshall,

Your calls and emails are working!

Don't stop.

The hearing on Rep. Chumley's trumped-up charges is now listed on the official Statehouse website.

And it's scheduled for live streaming.

You've shown them that they can't sneak this through unnoticed.

But we can't stop now.

The spin factory is running full-time in Columbia!

And you deserve to know the whole truth.

Rep. Kenny Bingham, in response to the many emails and phone calls he is receiving, is claiming that he supported and fought for Nullification of ObamaCare, H3101.

And somehow he claims that means he is a fair and impartial participant in this witch-hunt.

If you'll recall, Rep. Bingham was very late to the game regarding H3101.

He never cosponsored the bill, and while he did vote for final passage, it was only after H3101 was watered down and weakened.

Perhaps knowing his claim of support would not hold water, Bingham is saying that Rep. Bill Chumley requested the hearing on December 23rd.

I spoke with Rep. Chumley on Wednesday night.

According to Rep. Chumley, the Ethics Committee scheduled a time to "consider" his case on Tuesday, Dec 17 -- when Chumley's lawyer couldn't be there because of his work on another case.

The Ethics Committee told Rep. Chumley they could still decide his case in his absence on Tuesday!

Rep. Chumley would have had no opportunity to present a defense.

The only way to prevent that injustice was to formally request a public hearing.

It was the only way for Rep. Chumley to be able to defend himself.

And it was the Ethics Committee that scheduled the hearing for Monday, December 23rd -- a day when nobody would have been paying attention, if not for The Nerve.

Their spin factory is a well-oiled machine, but it falls apart when the whole truth is known.

It's critical to continue to keep the pressure on Rep. Bingham and the Ethics Committee in order to end this witch-hunt.

(Contact information is below.)

If you can attend, the hearing will be in Room 110 of the Blatt Building, in the Statehouse complex, on December 23rd, at 9:30a.m.

P.S. Your calls and emails are working!  The House Ethics Committee has realized they can't sneak this hearing through.

But the spin factory is running full time.  Don't stop the pressure!  Contact the members of the House Ethics Committee now and tell them to end this witch-hunt.
