A message may not seem important – but every single share matters for these mothers.
Can you forward our call to a few people who’d sign with you to help overturn these sentences?

Courts have condemned two mothers in Sudan to death by stoning. Without massive political pressure, these horrible sentences could be carried out soon. We can help but we have to act fast! Sign now and we’ll rally the international community, deliver our massive call directly to top Sudanese officials, and help lawyers to launch an appeal.

Dear friends,
|
|
One woman is a mother of 9. Her husband says one isn’t his. The other woman’s husband abandoned her after she gave birth to their first baby – 7 years ago. Now he’s back and accusing her of adultery.
For these ‘crimes’, courts sentenced them to a cruel and painful death by stoning – after a sham trial where the women didn’t even have lawyers.
But there’s still a chance to stop this: They now have lawyers to launch appeals – and a bright global spotlight can help make sure they have a fair hearing.
It’s worked before! In a very similar case a few years ago, Avaaz rallied more than a million global citizens and a higher court overturned the sentence.
Now let’s do it again. Sign now, and Avaaz will send much-needed support to the appeals team. We’ll also work to build a unified call from all of us along with Sudanese groups and international rights organizations!

Sudan is the site of a horrific conflict, where massive numbers of women have been targeted, raped, and killed in unspeakable ways. But while there’s been zero accountability for those war crimes, these women were expeditiously sentenced to death for the ‘crime’ of adultery.
Their trial was a farce. They had no lawyers, and local groups report that the police coerced a confession. In an extra cruel twist, one of the cases is proceeding even though an accuser has reportedly withdrawn all charges!
Organisations within and outside of Sudan are raising the alarm, and if we all join them, we can supercharge their call for justice. Add your name and share this widely with anyone who cares about women’s rights. Let’s make sure these children don’t have to grow up without their mothers:

When a similar case reached Avaaz a little over three years ago, more than a million members of our community joined brave lawyers and organisations to stand with a 20-year-old sentenced to stoning back then – and helped overturn her sentence. And as the war in Sudan grinds towards its third anniversary, Avaazers have stepped up again and again to deliver life-saving help to volunteers on the ground, and get stories out of the country and into international media. As the saying goes, to save one life is to save the world – so let’s come together once more.
With hope,
Nate, Antonia, Mo and the whole Avaaz team
