Misoprostol Marketed For Killing Unborn Children, Battle Rages To Stop It

TULSA, OK (WorthyNews) - A battle is being waged in Oklahoma and Iowa that would have national implications.

Pro-life activists, now deemed as suspected terrorists by the United States government(1), are fighting with abortion activists over laws passed in both states limiting access to prescription drugs marketed specifically for the killing of unborn children.(2)

The drug in question is Misoprostol, a drug originally developed in 1985 to be used in conjunction with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDSs) for the treatment of gastric ulcers.(3)  It is now being marketed specifically for the purpose of killing unborn children.

When Oklahoma legislators overwhelmingly passed HB1970 they didn't expect to have to take their fight to limit access to the deadly drug RU486 all the way to the Supreme Court.  But pro-abortion forces immediately challenged the law, claiming it made "it impossible for women to exercise the full range of their constitutionally protected rights."

RU 486, another 'abortion drug,' is already known to kill not only the unborn, but also the life of the mother that it is supposed to be protecting.

As reported by Steven Ertelt of LifeNews.com, the two women died after developing a Clostridium sordellii infection after using the drug. Clostridium sordellii is an anaerobic, spore forming rod capable of causing medical conditions such as pneumonia, endocarditis, myonecrosis, and others.

Early deaths linked to RU 486 include four women from California. Each woman died within a week of using the drug which was obtained from Planned Parenthood, an abortion services provider. Although Planned Parenthood had told women to use the drug vaginally, they eventually changed their policy to conform to FDA protocol which declared oral use safer.(4)

Misoprostol has not been approved for use with RU 486, also known as mifepristone,(2) yet it is being used in combination with it.  Some of the side effects include diarrhea, pain and/or cramps in the stomach and/or abdominal region, nausea and/or vomiting, constipation, vaginal bleeding, etc...(5)

Side effects of RU 486 (mifepristone) are even worse.  What a woman can expect from taking this includes anxiety, flu-like symptoms, lack or loss of strength, shaking chills, even death.(6)  Taking these drugs in combination with the other, even days apart, is likely to be fatal, not only for the unborn child, but also for the mother, who may be under the delusion that this is a safe procedure, and that the baby, if given so great a designation, feels nothing.

The battle crosses state lines into Iowa, where pro-life advocates and abortion advocates are locked in a struggle over RU 486 and "telemed abortions."

A telemed abortion is a video meeting between the abortionist and an expectant mother.(2)(7)  Apparently, this is done without an abortion doctor ever examining the mother to check for pre-existing health conditions that could kill the mother that the drug is supposed to protect.

Earlier this year, the United States Supreme Court agreed to hear a challenge to the State of Oklahoma's regulation of the drug mifepristone.  The case, Cline vs. Oklahoma Coalition for Reproductive Justice, is an appeal by the state of Oklahoma from a ruling by its Supreme Court striking down a 2011 law that requires prescribing physicians to follow the FDA’s protocol for administering the Mifeprex abortion pill regimen using a combination of two drugs; mifepristone and misoprostol.

The Oklahoma law does not ban the use of the Mifeprex regimen, nor does it ban any abortion before or after 49 days gestation. It simply requires that the medical abortion regimen be administered in the way deemed safest by the FDA.(8)

Fw: RU486 Safe? RU Crazy?!

Dear (reader), You and I know it's a standard tactic for abortionists to shop for activist judges who'll override any law or regulation that hampers their business of killing babies. At the same time, you and I both know it's a bad idea to allow the abortion industry free-reign on abortion issues.  That's why we elect representatives -- to make laws that stand for our values. Now infuriated pro-lifers in both Oklahoma and Iowa are seeing scenario play out again. Recently, in response to intense lobbying efforts by NPLA members and other pro-lifers, lawmakers in Oklahoma and Iowa passed laws to limit prescription abortions. Immediately the abortion lobby went crying to unelected pro-abortion, activist judges to override the people's will. You see, the moment the abortion pill was rammed through by the Clinton Administration in 1999, abortionists tossed aside the FDA rules. Abortionists across the board vary the dosage and, of their own volition, add a second pill to be taken two days later at home. This drug, misoprostol, is not approved for use with the first pill, mifepristone (RU486). That's because mifepristone and misoprostol are a deadly combination.  Taken together these meds have killed more than 2 million babies and been the catalyst for over 1,100 women to be rushed to emergency rooms with deadly complications from at-home abortions.  Meanwhile, in Iowa NPLA members and other pro-lifers are again waging battle against the RU486 abortion mongers. In August the Iowa Medical Board voted to halt what is known as "telemed abortions."  Once again, Planned Parenthood jumped in and filed a lawsuit.  And again, an activist pro-abortion judge stepped in and suspended the Iowa state board's ban on telemed abortions. A telemed abortion is a video meeting between the abortionist and an expectant mother. Without ever examining the woman, the abortionist prescribes RU486 to terminate her child.  The pregnant mother is sent home to finish taking the meds at home, alone.  So the abortionist has no idea of the age of the baby; if the expectant mother has any complications, like an ectopic pregnancy; or even what the outcome of the prescription abortion is.  Unfortunately, pro-abortion lobbyists will do whatever it takes to avoid any regulations and continue their killing spree.  Planned Parenthood's President Cecile Richards has already made it clear that Planned Parenthood wants to expand the dangerous practice of online abortions to all 50 states. And at nearly $500.00 per prescription, RU486 is definitely a money maker for them.  But no matter the money, the real tragedy is the babies' lives that are snuffed out The good news is I'm convinced we will ultimately win these two lawsuits.
