MEAT YOUR NEXT PANDEMIC?

In theory, president Joe Biden wants you to cut meat consumption drastically to meet his 2030 sustainability goals. According to the Daily Mail, this level of reduction will leave you with just one hamburger per month.

Now you might be saying to yourself; this can't happen; I won't let it. A recent poll of 5,500 Foogle Fam showed 70% would not give up any meat to meet Joe Biden's demands. But will you really have a choice, and how exactly would the Powers-That-Be force us to give up our meat consumption?

Well, they could try to tax our meat and work with suppliers to reduce supply and raise prices via subsidies. But these regulations are subject to congress, and it would be impossible to reach a 90% reduction in beef as suggested. There is a way, as this last year has shown us, the one thing that can send people home, shut down industries, and most importantly, reset human behavior - Pandemics.

Is a cow-demic even possible? Absolutely, and it's not that unrealistic. Let's review some facts you may not know.

This month Tyson announced they were joining the cattle traceability program. Tyson Fresh Meats, the beef, and pork subsidiary of Tyson Foods, Inc., is putting its support behind a cattle disease traceability program called U.S. CattleTrace. Tyson is the first beef processor to invest in the program to develop a national infrastructure for animal disease traceability in the U.S. cattle industry.

U.S. CattleTrace utilizes ear tags that contain ultra-high frequency technologies to collect the minimal data necessary, including an individual animal identification number, a GPS location, and date and time. This information will track animals in the event of a disease outbreak. The tracker records every site they travel from birth to processor.

Do you remember mad cow disease? A neurodegenerative disease of cattle that later spread to humans and resulted in variant Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease.

This month in Canada, a mysterious brain disease that resembles deadly 'Mad Cow Disease' kills five and infected over 40 people. Health officials in New Brunswick, Canada, are scrambling to understand how 43 people contracted the illness and the unknown neurological disease.

What about Zombie deer disease? Chronic wasting disease (also called Zombie deer disease) is a transmissible brain disease somewhat related to Mad Cow Disease that affects deer, elk, reindeer, sika deer, and mooses. The disease is currently in the United States, Canada, Norway, Finland, and South Korea.

While Cronic wasting disease hasn't yet made the jump to humans, the CDC warns not to shoot, handle, or eat meat from deer that behave unusually or seem sick. If you must interact with an animal, wear rubber gloves, don't use household knives for cutting, and get the meat tested.

Now we would hope someone would step up and help prevent agricultural pandemics. And, you are right. It's none other than Bill Gates. A quick google search for "Animal Pharmaceutical Companies" provided a list of who's who. The following is the top Animal Pharma , along with their ties to Mr. Gates.

Zoetis develops vaccines, parasiticides, anti-infectives, medicinal feed additives, and drugs for pain, sedation, and cancers for pets and farm animals. After three years of co-funding with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, nearly 400,000 farmers trained in animal care, more than 60 animal medicines approved for use, and new diagnostic and vaccine care initiatives in place.

Merck Animal Health manufactures vaccines, anti-infective and anti-parasitic drugs, fertility management drugs, and other specialty pharmaceutical products for companion animals and livestock. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has a long history with Merck, including capital investment in Merck.

Merial Animal, now known as Boehringer Ingelheim, develops and markets veterinary products and produces vaccines for livestock, poultry, and pets. Boehringer Ingelheim also joined the COVID-19 Therapeutics Accelerator of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Elanco Animal Health develops and markets products to treat animal health and increase protein production. The company announced it received a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to provide sustainable development solutions. The commitment will work to improve animal health and productivity in dairy herds and poultry flocks.

Bayer's Animal Health division manufactures antimicrobials, parasiticides, sedatives, painkillers, and nutritional supplements and feed additives for dogs, cats, and horses. Products for food animals include anti-infectives, vaccines, parasiticides and sedatives, and painkillers. Bayer also has a long history of working with Gates. For example, Bayer developed reproductive implants with a partnership between the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, and others.

Novartis develops and markets health products for companion animals, livestock, and the aquaculture market. Novartis has also created some of the first vaccines for combating viral and parasitic infections in fish. Novartis Animal received a $5.6 million grant from Bill and Melinda Gates.

In January 2020, the Gates Foundation launched Gates Ag One, a subsidiary of the Gates Foundation. Ag One's leader is Joe Cornelius, a former food, nutrition, and technology development executive at Bayer Crop Science.

Let's not forget, Gates has been buying farmland like it's going out of style. In total, Gates owns approximately 242,000 acres with assets totaling more than $690m. To put that into perspective, that's nearly the size of Hong Kong.

So what happens if a mysterious cow-demic breaks out, leaving us scared but hungry to eat beef? No problem, again Bill Gates has the solution, Impossible meat. Pat Brown, the founder of CEO of Impossible Foods, received investments from Bill Gates, earned United Nations backing, and a distribution deal from Burger King.

If fake meat doesn't work, Bill Gates has another trick up his lab coat sleeve. Mr. Gates has invested in lab-grown meat companies. "Raising meat takes a great deal of land and water and has a substantial environmental impact," Gates said. "Put simply, there's no way to produce enough meat for 9 billion people. Yet we can't ask everyone to become vegetarians. That's why we need more options for producing meat without depleting our resources."

If the world must "meat" the Agenda 2030 Sustainability Goals, is it possible a cow-demic could be the catalyst needed to change our behaviors? Are you comfortable with Bill Gates' hands in so many agro-cookie jars?
