Fw: U.S. Supreme Court takes up abortion

The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear an abortion case out of Louisiana this spring.  Naturally, the Thomas More Society is involved.

But not in the way you might think.

Instead of representing the state or filing a brief on behalf of a client, we have retained former federal judge and U.S. Solicitor General Ken Starr to file an amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief on behalf of the Thomas More Society in support of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.

You may have heard about this case: abortionists are challenging a Louisiana law that requires physicians performing abortions in the state to have admitting privileges at a local hospital.

The plaintiffs, abortionists at June Medical Services, claim this law unduly burdens the rights of abortion-seeking women by limiting access.

-------, as one of our very best supporters and a staunch defender of life, I'm asking you to show your support for the State of Louisiana by signing this "I stand with Louisiana!" Petition.

You and I both know that laws like this are sensible safety regulations enacted to protect patients from negligent and incompetent abortionists.

Thankfully, this case could result in abortionists no longer being allowed to file frivolous lawsuits on behalf of their patients to challenge commonsense safety regulations.

Remember, the abortion lobby wants to tie pro-lifers up in the courts to bankrupt our side into silence.

That would be a huge win here.  But some folks think this case could go even further.

Some even believe this case could be the vehicle the U.S. Supreme Court uses to overturn Roe v. Wade.

That remains to be seen… but nonetheless, it's an extremely important case.

That's why I'm asking you to sign the "I stand with Louisiana!" Petition to show your support for State of Louisiana.

Without a doubt, this is the most important abortion case the Supreme Court has agreed to hear in years.  We will be watching it closely and will keep you informed.

Thank you for your friendship and support.

Gratefully,

Andrew Bath
