Fw: Grandmother still in court

If you can't contribute, please pray for this woman, and Alliance Defending Freedom.  What this prosecutor is doing is not right, and if successful, will happen not only in America but all over the world.

Grandmother of 11 is on trial for her biblical beliefs—she needs your help now!

Can you imagine a world in which expressing basic Christian theology—even quoting a single Bible verse—is considered a crime?

If a Finnish prosecutor is successful in punishing parliamentarian Päivi Räsänen for Orwellian "hate speech" charges, we may be one step closer to that reality here in the United States.

Over four years after the first police investigation—which included 13 hours of police interrogations—this grandmother of 11 is still in the courtroom.

She was charged with "hate speech" after sharing her faith-based views on marriage and sexual ethics in 2021. And now, after two unanimous court decisions exonerated the former Finnish Interior Minister, the prosecutor won't stop trying to punish Päivi, and is appealing the case to the Finnish Supreme Court.

This case is crucial to the future of free speech—not just in Finland, but everywhere. Will you step up right now and send a special gift of $25 or more to help bolster Päivi's defense and brave clients like her? Your generosity will be added to a $500,000 challenge grant, helping to amplify the impact for freedom.

"I say it every chance I get: ADF is absolutely indispensable. Because I follow religious liberty cases closer than most, I know how vital their work is. But it is very, very costly. Christians everywhere should donate generously to ADF (it's tax-deductible); you never know when the liberty it saves will be your own."  -- Rod Dreher, author of The Benedict Option and Live Not By Lies.

What is this case about? The prosecution claims that Päivi's case isn't about the Bible—but their actions inside and outside the courtroom make it clear that this is an attempt to criminalize biblical beliefs.

The prosecutor even resorted to reading out-of-context Bible passages she didn't like—aloud in the courtroom.

I'm humbled by Päivi's steadfast bravery in the face of this persecution. She's confident that God has called her for "such a time as this" and her quiet strength and courage is helping to keep the doors open for the Gospel in Finland and beyond.

Päivi has done the hard work. She bravely stood up for the truth, clinging to the Word of God in the face of what has become a modern-day heresy trial.

Now it's up to us to stand with her. Like Päivi, we serve a great God who can move mountains—and the hearts of men and women.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."—Romans 8:28

Please continue to pray for Päivi and the ADF International attorneys and allies defending her. And pray for the Finnish Supreme Court, that justice will prevail and Päivi's rights be protected.
