A car bomb explodes near a police station in northeastern Damascus, killing at least eight members of the Security Forces, on Sunday, June 2, 2013 according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

United Nations Secretary Ban Ki-moon warned on Saturday that all parties involved would be held accountable for the killing of civilians in the battle over the border town of Qusair/Qusair.  The warning came as he pleaded with pro-Assad forces and rebels to allow civilians to leave the town, where as many as 1,500 people are believed to be wounded and in need of medical care.

"We are also receiving reports that civilian neighborhoods continue to be indiscriminately attacked, and that other major violations of human rights and international humanitarian law are being committed," said Navi Pillay, U.N. A draft declaration of alarm by Britain (England), the president of the United Nations Security Council, was blocked Saturday by Russia.  The statement voiced the "grave concern about the situation in al-Qusair, Syria, and in particular the impact on civilians of the ongoing fighting" that Britain had. This comes amid a report that Syria will be getting at least 10 Mig-29 jet fighters from Russia, with pleas for more.  An unnamed source in Russia's defense complex told the official Itar-Tass news agency on Friday that Russia will sell Syrian President Bashar al-Assad the Mig's to fulfill a contract that supposedly was "concluded long ago." Lebanon receives shipment of Russian S-300s:

BEIRUT (AP) — Syria has received the first shipment of Russian missiles that are part of a more sophisticated air defense system, President Bashar Assad told Lebanon's Hezbollah-owned TV channel, according to remarks released by the station Thursday.

Bashar Assad's comment on the arrival of the long-range S-300 air defense missiles in Syria could further ratchet up tensions in the region and undermine efforts to hold U.N.-sponsored talks with Syria's warring sides.

Jordan plans war games (similar to wars prophesied in Psalm 83 and Exekiel 38):

More than 15 000 soldiers from 18 different countries will take part in a joint military exercise in Jordan in the coming weeks.

Jordan's armed forces will host the exercise - known as Eager Lion 2013.

The countries taking part are the U-S, Britain, Bahrain, Canada, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Iraq, Italy, Lebanon, Pakistan, Poland, Qatar, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

No date has been given on when the exercise would begin, but it's due to run for a fortnight.

China prepping for cyber-war, says they don't need to steal US technology:

BEIJING, May 29 (Reuters) - China will next week conduct its first "digital" technology military exercise, state media said on Wednesday, against growing concern in Washington and elsewhere about Chinese hacking attacks.

A brief report by the official Xinhua news agency said the exercise, in north China's remote Inner Mongolia region, will "test new types of combat forces including units using digital technology amid efforts to adjust to informationalized war."

"It will be the first time a People's Liberation Army exercise has focused on combat forces including digitalized units, special operations forces, army aviation and electronic counter forces," the brief English-language report added.
