In a recent article on the internet, Jackson Heights in Queens, New York, is identified as the birthplace of Scrabble, the popular board game that lets you spell words and gain points by laying tiles end to end.(1) Apparently, in 1995 someone placed a brown street sign on top of the original 35 AV street sign, reading 35T1H4 A1V4E1N1U1E1, in commemoration of Jackson Heights being the birthplace of Scrabble in 1938.
What I found interesting is the sign below it, the original street sign, which reads 35 AV. AV is the fifth month in the Hebrew calendar.(2) Almost anyone who knows anything about Christianity and end-times prophecy has heard of the tribulation period, also known as Daniel's 70th week.
God is good. He gives to the good and the wicked. He gives them blessings and mercy which we do not ask for. He gives liberally knowledge and wisdom to them that ask him. Which is why this especially shows forth the LORD God's goodness. I had only recently started thinking on the month when Great Tribulation would start, and God sends me this.
This is how God works: He uses the simple and ordinary things in this world to do and make extraordinary things. If you think yourself unimportant, don't. Your heavenly Father sees you, and he has plans for you, to prosper you, and exalt you. If you think you are small in the eyes of the world, then rejoice! For David, the son of Jesse, the ancestor of the Lord Jesus Christ, was small in his father's house, and God made him king!
Back to the point of this article. Now that we know the month of the midway point of the tribulation period, signified by 35 AV (which should be interpreted as 3.5 years is AV), we can begin to calculate the date of the signing of the seven year peace treaty between Israel and her enemies.
Taking an arbitrary date of 9 AV (the year is not given, thus we should not take it into consideration), we can work backwards counting 1260 days as the beginning of Daniel's 70th week. This brings us to Feb 21, providing for a leap year day, according to the modern solar calendar. The signing of the false peace treaty between Israel and her neighbors should occur on or near this date.
We can also count forward, not only to the month and day of the end of Great Tribulation and the return of the LORD Jesus to earth bodily, but to the day that Antichrist and the False Prophet are thrown into the lake of fire forever.
Counting forward 1290 days, which is the number of days mentioned in the Bible in connection with great tribulation, we arrive at February 24 on the modern solar calendar. If we move another 45 days past that to allow for the Lord Jesus and the armies of heaven to cleanse the planet of the presence of devils/demons/unclean spirits and to mop up the last of the human resistance and the dividing of the sheep and the goats, you get April 10.
Again, these dates are only approximate, but I believe the midway point of Tribulation Week in AV to be true. If the actual breaking of the treaty occurs on a different day, or the signing of the treaty happens on a different day, you will need to adjust your figures accordingly. Without doubt, though, is the month of the midway point of the tribulation period, the Time of Jacob's Trouble.
