Fw: Pedophilia is an orientation?

Marshall, You won't believe it. The California Legislature has passed SB 1176 -- a bill that will outlaw all counseling attempting to change a person's sexual orientation. This bill was specifically designed to limit a parent's right to seek mental health services for his or her child. But the most frightening component of this bill is that the language it uses is so broad, it could potentially re-label pedophilia as a sexual orientation! Yes, you read that correctly. Thankfully, there is still an ongoing battle in the courts. But even before it's officially a state law in California, some politicians are already on the move to make this a federal issue. California State Representative Jackie Speier is on a mission to get other states to fall in line by lobbying for a similar federal law. I believe that forbidding an individual from voluntary therapy to change their ways is just plain wrong. It's our God-given duty to extend a hand and attempt to help those in need. We cannot give in to legislators that are seeking to leave the door open to labeling pedophiles as being "born that way." Attempting to federalize this law could normalize the behavior of pedophiles, take away a parent's rights and destroy their children's lives. I will NEVER accept the notion that pedophilia is just a sexual orientation.
