Dear Marshall, Imagine being a survivor of human trafficking, only to find yourself violently taken back by the people who enslaved you. Alarmingly, a safe house -- the Center of Hope -- run by Visayan Forum, Walk Free's partner in the Philippines, was attacked a few weeks ago by a violent mob. Traffickers stormed the shelter and took 16 women and girls with them. Thankfully, 11 managed to escape and have since been relocated to another safe house, where they are recovering from their emotional trauma. | Rescued from a trafficking operation in the southern Philippines, 27 women and girls were given protection at the Center of Hope. Days later a mob arrived and began banging on the gates, demanding access to the survivors. This incident was reported to local police and guards were sent to monitor the property. However soon afterwards, the mob returned, tore down the gate, and took 16 women and girls away before police could intervene. Rescued victims of trafficking have suffered enough -- they deserve to feel safe, secure, and free from harm. Your help will make this a reality. Sincerely, Olly, Jamison, Alex, Mika, Joanna and the rest of the Walk Free team | | | | | |
