DILLON, South Carolina -- (WorthyNews) A closer examination of the details surrounding the theft of $4.8 million in gold bars along a deserted stretch of Interstate 95 reveals the official account of events doesn't add up.
The distance from Transvalue, Inc.(7421 Raph Renick Way) in Miami, FL to the nearest gas station off of I-95 (Sunoco, 826 Radford Blvd.) in Dillon, SC is 687 miles. The travel time is 9 hours 40 minutes. At the farthest, hours after the drivers left Transvalue, Inc. would have been five hours, maybe six. This would have put the drivers in the Pooler, GA region, just west of Savannah.
If the starting point of the drivers (who are identified as Yole Gonzalez and Luiz Mendez) were the owners of the gold, Republic Metals Corporation, 12900 NW 38th Ave Miami, FL 33054, which is the most likely event, the distance would be 675 miles to the Sunoco in Dillon, a drive time of nine hours, 30 minutes, nine hours, 10 minutes without traffic. This would still put the location of the drivers in Georgia mere hours before getting "hi-jacked," as the official story indicates.
A question must now be asked: "What time did the drivers leave the Miami area heading for Massachusetts?" If the drivers did not leave the day of the heist, but rather before, they would have had to stop off somewhere and go to sleep. They also would have had to stop and get something to eat, which would have taken time as well. In any case, this gives Mr's. Gonzalez and Mendez ample opportunity to contact the Wilson Co. Sheriff's Dept. in addition to special agent Lynch of the FBI, and other members of the Department of Homeland Security (it appears they may be connected) and set up the pick up location.
It should also be noted that the drivers of the armored car/18-wheeler (accounts of the vehicle description seem to vary) had cell phones on their persons. This would have given them unlimited time to contact their co-conspirators.
How deep this thing goes is anyone's guess.
