The phrase "reign for a thousand years" is found in Revelation 20:4-7! In Greek it reads: basileuô chilioi etos [βασιλεύω G936 χίλιοι G5507 ἔτος G2094] and in Latin: regnabunt cum illo mille annis – from which we get the English term: "millennial reign". Millennium comes from mille annis – literally 1000 years. It is commonly termed the "millennial reign" or simply the "millennium".
There are many today who teach that there will be no literal one-thousand year reign of Yeshua on earth – this is a false teaching, a lie. This false teaching, called Amillennialism, is held by the Catholic Church and many denominations today. Amillennialism means no millennium, teaches that the one-thousand year reign of Yeshua began at the cross and continues to this day, believes that Yeshua is reigning spiritually today and there won't be a future literal reign of Yeshua, and really began to infiltrate the church after the Nicene Council and the Schism of Nepos around AD 324-325.
Scripture
The thousand year reign is clearly depicted in Revelation chapter 20 which tells us that Yeshua will reign for a period of time spanning one thousand years during which Ha'Satan will be bound in the bottomless pit:
Revelation 20:1-8 – "Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Yeshua and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years. When the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison, and will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together for the war; the number of them is like the sand of the seashore."
Jeremiah 23:5-6 and Zechariah 14:9 prophesy an earthly reign or earthly government of Yeshua. Revelation 5:10 teaches that the believers who are killed during the Tribulation Period will reign on the earth in the future. Daniel chapters 2 and 9 both state that Yeshua will destroy the final Gentile government before the kingdom of everlasting righteousness is established.
Common Sense
Common sense alone should be enough to convince a person that the Amillennial viewpoint is a false teaching. The Bible tells us that that during the one-thousand year reign of Yeshua, Ha'Satan will be bound so that he can no longer deceive the nations of the world [nor individuals]. This is completely contrary to what we see today. Deception is rampant throughout the earth. The Bible also says that during the reign of Yeshua the earth will be flooded with peace, righteousness and justice (Jeremiah 23:5) and war will be no more (Isaiah 2:2-4). People will live long lives, only considered a child if they die at the age of one hundred (Isaiah 65:20). There will be better farming and weather conditions (Isaiah 30:23-26; Amos 9:13-15; Joel 2:19-24; Ezekiel 36:29-30), and wild animals will become tame (Isaiah 11:6-9; Romans 8:20-21). The righteous will have entry into the New Jerusalem and have right to the tree of life (Revelation 22:14), This is also completely contrary to what we see today.
History
The first century Church Fathers were either men who were the disciples of the apostles, or studied under those disciples. They were not deceived and taught that there is a future literal reign of Yeshua on earth. There are virtually no early church documents prior to AD 325 which support a different view. In fact, the writings of the early church are so overwhelmingly in agreement about the one-thousand year reign, that it led the great church historian, Phillip Schaff, to write: "The most striking point in the eschatology of the ante-Nicene age [before the council of Nicea] is the prominent chiliasm, or pre-millennarianism; that is the belief of a visible reign of Christ in glory on earth with the risen saints for a thousand years, before the general resurrection and judgment. The historical evidence indicates that was the predominant belief of the church of the first three centuries."
And to make few words of it," as Thomas Burnet, Royal Chaplain to King William III of England, said, "We will lay down this conclusion, that the Millennial kingdom of Christ was the general doctrine of the Primitive Church, from the times of the Apostles to the Nicene Council; inclusively."
A few samples of the numerous documents that clearly state that the one-thousand year reign is literal are below:
The Papius Fragment 6 states: "After the resurrection of the dead, Jesus will personally reign for 1000 years." The Lactantius Epitome of Divine Institutes 72 states: "There will be a future 1000-year reign of Christ." Justin Martyr agreed, saying: "There will be a literal 1000 year reign of Christ" (Dialogue 32, 81, 110). Tertullian Marcion states: "There will be a 1000-year reign of Jesus Christ, the millennium reign" (3.5, 25, 5:16). It was not until the fourth century that the Amillennial heresy took root after the Nicene Council and the Schism of Nepos, a bishop of Egypt, around AD 324-325.
Satanic Deception
Ha'Satan can only copy or steal what Yahweh, Yeshua, and the Ruach Ha'Kodesh have first created or determined to bring into being. Ha'Satan is unquestionably aware that Yeshua is destined to reign for one thousand years during his own imprisonment. History records his attempt to steal a one thousand year reign period for his own use.
Adolph Hitler was Ha'Satan's man of the hour. Hitler was trained to be a Supreme Adept in the arts and ritual of Black Magic by Dietrich Eckart, the leader of a powerful, secret society called the Thule Society. Most occult leaders of the day believed Hitler was The Great One, whose plan was to build an Empire that would last for one thousand years! Hitler, in June of 1934 in Berlin stated to a British correspondent: "At the risk of appearing to talk nonsense I tell you that the National Socialist movement will go on for 1,000 years! Don't forget how people laughed at me 15 years ago when I declared that one day I would govern Germany. They laugh now, just as foolishly, when I declare that I shall remain in power!"
Hitler and the Nazis called this period the Third Reich. It was supposed to be actualized in the perfect world of the end of days. In other words, Ha'Satan expected to steal Yeshua's one-thousand year reign at the end of days!
Conclusion
Both scripture and history agree that a millennial reign is real – even common sense agrees. Scripture clearly teaches that there will be a literal one-thousand year reign of Yeshua Ha'Mashiach here on earth during which he will reign from David's throne in the earthly Jerusalem (Luke 1:32-33), and those who have accepted him as Lord and Savior will reign with him (Revelation 20:6). History clearly shows that Ha'Satan, the great copy cat, used Hitler and his cronies to try and set up his own thousand year reign. Ha'Satan failed, and will fail again when he tries to set up a new reign under the auspices of the Antichrist and the False Prophet.
Do you need more proof? I do not! Any pastor, teacher, preacher, or other person who teaches that there is no literal one-thousand year reign of Yeshua Ha'Mashiach is deceived by Ha'Satan and is propounding a lie, a false teaching called Amillennialism from the chief liar – do not listen to their teaching.
Prophecy continues to unfold as foretold by the Hebrew prophets. The stage is being set. History is moving extremely quickly towards the prophesied one world government, the one world financial system, and the rise of both the Antichrist and the False Prophet. The birth pangs are just over the horizon. Yeshua Ha'Mashiach is coming soon – get busy reaching the lost.
