May 2, 2014 -- (TRN)  -- The web site TurnerRadioNetwork.com will "go dark" on May 16.   Since December of last year, a group of us, friends and former colleagues of the site's founder, Hal Turner, tried to take up his mantle of top notch reporting; getting the facts and getting them first.  It is a very cumbersome task; one that Hal Turner was very good at, but that we are not.

From December to April, the site garnered more than 5,400,000 views, certainly not shabby.  Based on the ALEXA service, this site grew to be among the top 16,000 in the entire United States and in the top 38,000 worldwide! Given the fact there are about 1 BILLION web sites in the world, that's pretty darn good for less than 5 months work.

Yet through it all, we could not overcome the "drag" of the site being affiliated with its founder, and the FBI operation the site was used for during Hal Turner's tenure.  The bad reputation imputed to the site over Mr. Turner's work for the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force remains to this very day.

A few weeks ago, we were approached by the owners of what will be New York City's newest radio station.  They have monitored this site for a number of years and know it has a good foundation of steady visitors, which is something they find desirable.  They've asked to absorb this site into what will be their new radio station's online presence and we have agreed to be absorbed.

At some point in the future, the URL from TurnerRadioNetwork.com and all its affiliated sites, will direct visitors to the new radio station site and will be under the exclusive control of new owners.  They have put together a top-notch staff that can devote the time and energy to this type of endeavor that we part-timers cannot.   We are told the new radio station will offer classic rock music, news, perhaps some limited talk shows in the future and a host of features to make its online site VERY desirable to the public.  We wish them well.

August 11, 2012 - (TRN) -- They call it "the CMU."

The official name is "Communications Management Unit" and it is located in the 1192 acre Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA, shown below.

FCI Terre Haute, IN

This is the prison where radio host Hal Turner, founder of the Turner Radio Network,  was held until June 11, 2012, after he was wrongly convicted of "threatening" three federal judges.

In June, 2009, Turner had written an Editorial on his radio show web site, describing three federal judges in Chicago as "traitors" to America for a ruling they made upholding an unconstitutional gun ban in the City of Chicago.  Turner's editorial named the Judges, showed their official Judicial photos - issued publicly by the government when each Judge was appointed - published the address of the federal courthouse in Chicago, IL and the contact phone numbers for each Judge as published on the federal court's web site. All of the photos and information were publicly available from around the Internet; none of it was secret, personal or private.

Turner's editorial analyzed the judges decision, described the judges as traitors and "tyrants" and quoted Thomas Jefferson, one of the Founding Fathers who said "The tree of liberty must be replenished from time to time with the blood of tyrants and of patriots."Turner went on to say "Let me be the first to say this plainly, these judges deserve to be killed."

Turner claimed that saying a person "deserves" something, is an opinion and thus, protected free speech. US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald from Chicago claimed that because Turner was a radio host, someone in his audience "might have taken his words to heart" and "might have tried to harm the judges." Even though absolutely nothing happened to any of the Judges,  Fitzgerald charged Turner with "threatening to assault and murder three United States Judges."
